It all Started in The Gap

The Soul Cowboys were formed in 2022 to play at the Gap Arts Festival in Ballythomas Following on from a hugely successful opening show at the 2022 Gap Arts Festival, the band have one from strength to strength, dominating the local live Music scene in a year which saw them, go from newbies to headliners taking in huge Festival shows and becoming the number one most talked about Band in the Wexford and Wicklow area.

The Soul Cowboys

What started as a one-night experiment quickly became a cult sensation. These aren’t polished pop stars—they’re Wexford’s answer to Stax swagger and Muscle Shoals muscle, cutting raw soul, dirty funk, and blues that knows heartbreak like a drinking buddy. You don’t watch a Soul Cowboys gig—you get pulled into it.

"This was hands down the best soul show I was ever at and I've seen them all, from Sam Cooke to Marvin Gaye I can safely say these guys perform these songs BETTER than the original Artists"
John Cullen
Ballyfad
"When I'm playing my guitar I ain't thinking about no drone bullshit"
Frankie Fingers

“The Soul Cowboys aren’t chasing hype, and they’re not interested in polish. They’re a band that feels local in the best sense—tight, rooted, and unbothered by anything except the music itself. And that’s exactly why they work. Their setlist leans into soul, funk, and blues, but it’s not just nostalgia. There’s tension and looseness in equal measure, and a kind of lived-in honesty to the way they play. They’re not trying to reinvent the wheel—they’re just keeping it turning ” – The Wickla People
